During his exploration, Magellan managed to encounter many unique and new things to man-kind, he was not only an explorer but also a navigator. With his advance in navigation, following the steps of Christopher Columbus, he found out about two dwarf galaxies from the southern hemisphere, those were later on named as the Magellanic Clouds.
Another one of his discoveries include the Strait of Magellan, known today as one of the worlds most important natural waterways. The waterway starts from the bottom of Chile, leading into the top of Tierra del Fuego and Antartica. As Magellan was the first to ever to navigate this strait, the waterway was later on named after him.
